Plenty of new bands are embracing the analog, but it still takes special guts to put out a recording on cassette. You can't exactly claims it sounds better than digital like you can with vinyl and most people aren't carrying tape decks around. Still, I suppose there's a certain charm to the bulky plastic casing and vintage crackles, just like there's a certain charm to making doo-wop in the year 2011. Philadelphia's White Birds have got that charm covered on both fronts. Their new self-titled EP is out now as a $5 cassette and download package on Grizzly Records.
