If you are a Philly area resident and a music fan, you may be interested to know that a lot of famous music talent has come out of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Music Alliance is a non-profit group devoted to keeping Philly’s music scene alive. The alliance wants to point out the impact the city has had on the music industry as a whole.

The organization has created the Philadelphia Walk of Fame which is located on Broad Street close to Spruce Street and Walnut Street. Did you know that DJ Jazzy Jeff, Patti LaBelle and the members of Boyz II Men were all born and raised in Philly? The Philadelphia Walk of Fame has plaques honoring these people and other successful artists. Check out the site and learn more about Philly’s music history. You may be surprised at some of the artists that the city has produced.
Both individual people and local organizations help to keep the Walk of Fame alive. The Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Chubby Checker and Kanter International have all made contributions. The Walk of Fame is considered part of the Avenue of the Arts.
The Walk of Fame occasionally hosts parties and events which bring big name celebrities to the city. The Oak Ridge Boys, Joan Jett and Patty Smythe have all visited the site. One of the most recent events was Kevin Eubank’s induction into the Walk of Fame. One of Eubank’s biggest claims to fame is working as the band leader on the Tonight Show for over a decade.
