Are you a music lover living in the Philadelphia area? Spend the day enjoying a free show. Philadelphia radio station 104.5 is set to host Winter Jam 2012. This year’s event will be held on January 28^th and will run from noon until 5:00 pm. This no cost event is a great way to get out of the house and enjoy some music and fun even if you are on a tight budget.

Three bands are set to play at Winter Jam 2012: New Found Glory, fun., and Rivers Monroe. The pop rock /punk /alternative band, New Found Glory is likely the most well-known band playing at the event. New Found Glory has been releasing hits since 1999 and has a large following of loyal fans. The indie band fun., is a newer New York based group that has been around since 2008. fun. has been receiving more media attention the past couple of years as they have opened for groups such as Paramore and have released a song with the award winning group Panic! at the Disco.

Rivers Monroe is an exciting addition to the lineup as they are a Philly based band. Although Rivers Monroe is a relatively new group, they are already beginning to make their mark on the music world. The band released their first album in 2009 and has since had their own national tour. Playing at Winter Jam 2012 gives the band an opportunity to meet fans from their hometown.

In addition to great live music, Winter Jam 2012 also offers snowboarding. If you don’t have your own snowboarding equipment it can be rented for $10 an hour. The event will be held at the Piazza at Schmidts which is located in the Northern Liberties section of Philly near Germantown Avenue and 2^nd Street.
